Denis Johnson's Jesus' Son: Stories (1992), for me, is as close to being high on dope that one can become from merely ingesting words and sentences and paragraphs through one's eyes and, if read aloud, ears. The two characters in these stories could not be more different. There was nothing of his I wanted in particular. The eleven sections of Jesus’ Son are relentless. Jesus…the Son of God who gave up His rightful place in heaven to come to earth and die for you and for me so we could have a relationship with God. I have had Johnson's story collection (connected story collection, that is) Jesus' Son (1992) on my shelf for a long time. This, his only short story collection, is unfathomably out of print in the UK. Please read her son's story and be inspired by her persistence to chase after the healing promised to her son through Jesus. Jesus' Son (1992) has perhaps as much claim to be a novel as a collection of stories. She is so strong in fighting the fight of faith – I LOVE It!! In Hebrews 11 we find the faith stories of many of the giants of our faith. We in the Christian era view Elijah as prototype of the Jesus, the Christ – Messiah and Son of God.
